OUR FAMILY
A FAMILY-OWNED ACCOMODATION WITH OVER 50 YEARS OF HISTORY
Welcome to Maracaibo!
Maracaibo was born in 1972 when my grandparents, Fermín and Luz, returned from their time as immigrants in Brazil, the country where they met and fell in love in Rio de Janeiro. Unbeknownst to them... it turns out that as children, they were neighbors from two neighboring villages in Galicia.
With my grandparents, my parents, and now with me, three generations have already passed through the hostel, but our essence remains intact: being a home, family, and meeting point for countless stories. From the early days until now, we are proud to say that we have witnessed enduring friendships, blossoming loves, and dreams coming true.
Every year, we welcome hundreds of pilgrims from the Portuguese Way with open arms, who choose our hostel as their refuge on this spiritual journey. It is an honor for us to be part of this journey, and we are excited to continue adding and sharing stories with each one of you.
We await you with open arms and hearts full of joy!
Recently refurbished, our hostel offers single, double, and triple rooms, all equipped with private bathrooms and air conditioning. Yes, you read that right! Even in Galicia, a bit of fresh air is appreciated to ensure a comfortable stay.
Our beds are manufactured right here in Galicia by a family-owned company specializing in rest. Because we know that resting is not just about sleeping; it's about recharging energy to keep exploring.
And what better way to start the day than with an authentic Galician breakfast? At 7:30 am, my father, Fernando, awaits you with a delicious breakfast, including gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options, to satisfy all tastes and fill you with energy.
Located in the old town of O Porriño, we are the perfect starting point for pilgrims walking the Portuguese Way of the Camino de Santiago.
